Are You Living Your Best Life?

The internet groups and motivational coaches I follow online have all been promoting a common theme lately which is"Live Your Best Life" and discussing the requirement to step outside of your comfort zone in order to do so.

This especially speaks to me because LuciFit, LLC is growing and I'm making some big choices right now for the company.  In fact, one thing I find recurring in my morning thoughts is that in order to become much more than I am today, I need to be willing to get a little uncomfortable.  We all need to stretch and get out of our comfort zones in order to grow, which brings me to something I'd like to share with you.

One of my favorite online blogging communities is The Secret to Success is Support "SITS" a community of over 9,000 women bloggers.  A few days ago they published  How to Live your Best Life, by Miranda (from A Duck in Her Pond), who is a wonderful storyteller.  Here are a few quotes from her post:
"What if you allowed yourself to not only dream, but to live the life you dreamed?
What you need to do is simply imagine....If you could do anything, what would you do? Not what you should do, but what would you really want to do?
If you imagine a life of freedom and possibilities, build that into your life. If you crave structure, then build it. Even if your "big dream" is to be an interior decorator, start small. Start a Pinterest board or blog. Go to decorating stores. Redesign a friend's living room. It may not be the ultimate dream or the perfect fit, but it's fitting your passion into your life. And when it's time, you can take bigger steps. And when it's not, you can step back.
The wonderful thing about living the life you imagine is that your imagination is only limited by one person--you"

  1. Here's one for you, Luci. I'm almost 60, physically active, eat healthily and I love to move. Just had to start working again and the job is sedentary, stress filled and the Hours are long. Now I wake up stiff as a board and my hands are bothering me in the night .. i think it's artharitis .. half the time I can not sleep and so many work days are done on and hour or two of sleep. it's terrible. HELP

  2. Hi, Keri,

It seems to me like you've stepped out of your comfort zone in order to get a job..! I think I can help. First of all, since you love moving, try to schedule a brisk walk (for as long as you can) any time during the day to get your blood pumping, breath flowing and stress hormones down. This done daily (no matter what time) can help you to sleep at night.

Since sleep is a major time for physical repair, your lack of sleep could be making your stiffness and soreness worse.

Also, try to get up every hour and stretch a little (try stretchclock app on firefox) to keep your body feeling mobile and less stiff. A lot of research is now pointing to the negative physical effects of sitting for prolonged periods. Don't forget to stretch your fingers and hands regularly.

These are just a few tips. Of course, if you want to speak in more detail, or privately, please e-mail me luci@lucigabel.com. I'd be happy to talk more about it.

  5. Vietnam Vets recently were offered a great welcome from a large group of people. Including applause, hugs, singing and yelling, pats on the back. The welcome was so wonderful that the Vets were overcome with bottled emotion and the relief and tears were supremely healing.
It seems to me that the ways in which we can live our best life are always and suprisingly unending.
